The Challenge
QVC's fast-paced live selling model required an Enterprise-level IPTV and signage platform capable of mixing multiple live studio camera feeds simultaneously while connecting in real-time to their backend warehouse stock management, order processing, and call center databases. As items sold out on air, control room operators needed an automated mechanism to switch studio feeds and update on-screen visual stock indicators across all operational facilities in real time, avoiding manual human errors and lag.
The StreamVue Solution & Architecture
StreamVue was commissioned in 2010 to deploy an enterprise video capture and playout architecture. StreamVue installed dedicated Vivo appliance servers to ingest high-definition SDI/IP video feeds from multiple studio floors. StreamVue's rendering engine merges the live video with dynamic HTML5 graphic templates populated by live API queries into QVC's warehouse inventory system. When a product's SKU count hits zero, StreamVue's automated script engine seamlessly triggers camera switches to the alternate studio floor.
