The Challenge
Disney Italia's move into central Milan required ingesting 27 encrypted Sky Italia Pay-TV decoders alongside Italian DVB-T Free-to-Air broadcasts. Disney's global IT security mandates strictly prohibited unmonitored hardware on corporate networks. Furthermore, Disney's creative and marketing staff needed to record specific television programs for broadcast compliance and competitive media monitoring, while the corporate facilities team wanted zero handheld remotes cluttering conference tables.
The StreamVue Solution & Architecture
StreamVue won an extensive competitive tender by demonstrating a purpose-built, secure IPTV and digital signage ecosystem. StreamVue deployed a rack of Vivo appliance servers to capture and encode the outputs of 27 Sky Italia satellite decoders into low-bandwidth, broadcast-quality multicast streams. Companion Vivo-DVBT servers ingest Italian digital terrestrial channels. StreamVue implemented 6 dedicated digital signage channels, powering displays across executive floors and a signature reception video wall. Over 40 set-top boxes were provisioned with HDMI-CEC control, enabling automated power scheduling and channel preset management directly from StreamVue's Cloud Management Portal. An EPG recording engine was integrated, allowing Disney staff to schedule program recordings directly to their corporate NAS.
